Empowering Emerging Artists, Inspiring Art Enthusiasts

The Water’s Edge Gallery is located inside the Riverside Hotel above the main lobby, and artwork in every genre is displayed throughout the hotel. A mainstay in the Boise art scene, we exhibit local and emerging artists in a vibrant and dynamic space that showcases the creativity and innovation within our community. In addition to exhibits, the Water’s Edge Gallery also hosts workshops, special art exhibits, and other events.

Born and raised in Ridgecrest, California, Bonnie McDermott was the youngest of five siblings. She discovered her love of art early, sketching horses from “How to Draw” books before she could read. Growing up in a geodesic dome in the desert, she filled her days with drawing and creating vivid memory pictures of her surroundings. She went on to earn an AA in Art from Cerro Coso Community College and a BA in Art from California State University, Long Beach. For 22 years, she taught in private schools while continuing to paint whenever possible. In 2009, she started Bonnie McDermott Photography, later offering educational programs for photo enthusiasts. By 2014, she returned to painting full-time, converting her garage into a studio. A fire destroyed that studio in 2015, but she rebuilt and continued her work. Today, McDermott is dedicated fully to her painting practice.
